Dear Fellow Members
I would like to thank you most sincerely for
allowing me the honour of serving as Chairman of The Scottish
Division of The Caravan Club
for the coming year.
I would also like to thank all of the Scottish Caravan Club
members who have supported and trusted me throughout my years on
the
Highland Centre Committee and my years on Scottish Division.
As Chairman, I will do my very best to promote The Scottish
Caravan Club wherever I travel and try to represent the
interests and views
of all members of the Caravan Club residing and caravanning in
Scotland.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all those members who
give of their time to organize and run rallies for our
enjoyment.
All of the people who serve on Centre Committees and Division,
organize rallies or any other social event for us, are just
members of
The Caravan Club like yourselves and I’m sure they would
appreciate your help in booking early for any organized event.
All of you, the members,
are very important and without your participation all their work
would be for nothing.
If you are reading this as a member who has never tried rallying
why not give it a try. When you join a Centre in Scotland you
will be sent a Handbook
with all the information on all events happening in Scotland for
the coming year.
For Centre Registration just call The Caravan Club’s Membership
Services on 01342 318813 and tell them with which Centre you
wish to register.
Registration is completely free.
In 2008 the 58th Scottish National Rally will be
hosted by the South West Centre and will be held in the grounds
of Ayr Racecourse.
Amongst other things the area is famous for it’s connection with
Robert Burns and offers a selection of first class golf courses.
A very warm welcome awaits you in this area of stunning scenery, historic
sites and miles and miles of sandy beaches.
Finally, Robbie and I look forward to meeting members old and
new, from within and out with Scotland, throughout the coming
year.
I extend the good wishes of the Scottish Caravan Club Council to
each and every one of you.
Happy and safe caravanning
wherever you go.
Yours sincerely
Fiona I Murray

The
first inaugural meeting of the East of Scotland Centre was held
in Edinburgh on 10 December 1949.
Since then our membership has grown and we now have over 480
full members and we organise a full programme of rallies
throughout the year.
At the AGM this year I had the privilege of being
elected Chairman of the Centre. I never thought that I would be
in this position when I was on the Teenage Committee all those
years ago.
We have a full Committee of 12 and also a Junior Committee of
5.
We have
just held our Film Show in Roslin which was a very successful
evening thanks to our Centre Photographer, Susan Mack.
Our next event will be
the Children’s Christmas Party which will be held on 1st
December at Dalmahoy Church Hall. Tickets for this event are
priced at £7.50.
On the 26th January 2008 our Dinner
Dance will be held at the Edinburgh Capital Hotel. Tickets are
priced at £26.00 with rooms available for £70 Bed and
Breakfast.
We are also running a meet at Silverknowes Caravan
Site with a bus being run to the hotel.
If you have never rallied before, rallying will
add a new dimension to your caravanning and could help you to
get the most out of your caravan, both in terms of enjoyment and
also value for the money you have invested in it.
You will find
that site fees are very modest and if we rally on a commercial
site there is often a considerable saving to be made on the fees
normally charged by sites.
We look forward to seeing you on the rally field or at one of
our social events.
On behalf of myself and my wife Janice, I would
like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Stuart R Mack
Chairman.

CHAIRMANS MONTHLY REPORT
We
have now got back to rallying after the winter break. Even so,
the centre did run rallies during January and February.
The first, in January, was the bi-annual invite to the South
West Centre for the Burns rally.
The week-end was held in Kirkfieldbank`s Clyde Valley Caravan
Park, with the Saturday social being held in the nearby
community hall.
A large turn-out on Saturday saw the two Centres share a night
of song and recitals plus the traditional Burns supper.
In
February, the Centres rally was at Aberfoyle, and what a first
class site we had, good to see that many caravan’s out of
storage and attending.
We then came to Easter, early this year, and held at Crossford,
Lanark. A good turn-out attended this long week-end and fun was
had on the Saturday night.
During January and February various Centres held there dinner
dances. Both Helen and myself attended the East centres dance in
Edinburgh, and the Dumfries and Galloway dance at Lockerbie.
Andy and Leslie Thomson attended the Highland dance, while Colin
and Betty Craig attended the Fife and Tayside Dance.
Both Helen and myself could not attend through family illness.
Our secretary, Rab Fraser and myself, attended the Scottish
Council meeting during February, and at the start of April,
unfortunately, I attended the funereal of Neil Cairns wife,
Agnes. My, and the Centres thoughts go to the family.
We all look forward to the
forthcoming rallies, and I would like to remember all, that our
charity rally this year, will be held at Alva, on the last
week-end in April.
I wish everyone in the centre,
an enjoyable season of rallying, and hope to see you very soon.
BILLY MURRAY, Chairman West Scotland
Centre.

Fife and Tayside Centre has the largest number of members of the
7 Scottish Centres in Scotland.
It also has one of the best rallying area’s within Scotland.
The Kingdom of Fife has
miles of coast line full of fishing villages and of course St.
Andrews the home of Golf.
Tayside can also boast fine coast lines and excellent
countryside including Carnoustie an Open golf venue.
The Angus countryside is rugged and stunning.
In 2008 the Centre has a
varied and exciting programme of Rallies and events, in areas of
interest for all tastes.
You will receive a warm
welcome to any event whether you are a seasoned rallier or a
newcomer.

North Centre

Llinos & John Gass |
 |
|
The
North Centre of the Scottish Caravan Club came into being in
1953 It started as a result of a number of people in the area
believing there was sufficient interest to develop a North
Centre in its own right.
Previous to this time all members were
part of the North East Centre, which became the Fife and Tayside
Centre when the North Centre was developed.
As the North Centre
had grown out of the North East, so the Highland Centre was
formed from the North in 1976.
The area of the present North
Centre remains the same as that of the old Grampian Region
namely Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen council areas.
This
provides us with the most wonderful landscapes and countryside
to rally within and allows us to explore a great deal of local
history and culture.
The North Centre has grown over the years and has celebrated
many milestones and events and was 50 years old in 2003. In June
2008 the Centre will celebrate another milestone - it’s 700th
Rally.
This will take place celebrated at Monaltrie Park
Ballater with a dinner and dance during the weekend 6th
June 2008. Please see your Scottish Caravan Club or local North
Centre handbook for full details of this event and all other
rallies in 2008.
The first rally for the Centre was held at Banchory Lodge Hotel
in August 1954.
Initially the Centre held about four rallies a
year.
The demand over the years has led to the Centre making
around 17 rallies available each year.
The Rally programme
commences in March and with the exception of the New Year Rally
concludes mid November.
Each year the Centre has a children’s
Christmas Party and a Dinner Dance.
Both these events are well
supported and do provide everyone a chance to meet outside the
rallying season.
The Centre has in the past organised a members
film night, Burns evening and a Warm Up Social. Any suggestions
for future events are welcome.
Centre membership has grown considerably since 1953. Caravans
have changed and the motor home has become more evident on
rallies.
However, the concept and purpose of rallying has not
changed and all who rally enjoy visiting many and varied
locations and events, but most of all enjoy the friendship and
fun, which the Centre provides.
Since the inception of the Centre members have held almost all
of the offices at the Scottish Caravan Club Division and
currently the Honorary Secretary is one of our members.
The excellent reputation of the Centre must continue. As the
Chairman, I will do my best to ensure this is upheld at all
times when I represent or lead the Centre in its activities.
I
consider it an honour to be the Chairman of the Centre and it is
with pride I have taken on the role.
I will do my utmost to
ensure the Centre continues to retain its staunch followers and
to welcome new ralliers into the fold.
I will only be able to do this with the assistance and support
of its members and committee and I extend a thank you to all of
you in anticipation of this.
LLinos Gass
Chairman
