The Caravan Club National - Arley Hall, Northwich - 23rd - 27th May 2014

Almost 4500 people attended the The Club National at Arley Hall with the CLO's in the Scottish Lines having to see 120 outfits to their pitches 60 of them in Scottish Lines which included The Vanmaster's Owner Club

Because of access roads to the site the vans would be allowed entry when they arrived so this meant a early start 06:20 Alistair, Bruce and Dave were out awaiting for the 1st vans to arrive Dave & Liz Ross were the 1st to arrive after setting up members were invited down to reception where Tea & Coffee was served,  around midday someone turned the tap on above and showers followed all day after that which made it harder for the CLO's to get outfits to their pitches with many having to be towed in with the last van arriving shortly before 10:00pm

A get together was arranged on Scottish Lines at 19:00 hours where (Scottish) Cheese & Wine was served before some members made there way down to the main arena for Abba & Fake That t for the evenings entertainment

Saturday with the rain still on and the official opening of the National at 12:30pm with Tamzin (Ollie & Joyce Turners Granddaughter) pulling the Flag for Scottish Division - the National was officially opened by Lord Ashbrook (his family have been forbearers of Arley Hall since the 15th century whilst members watched under the cover of their umbrellas, after the opening for those who were in the sports bar were entertained by a Pipe Band and Hardy & Laurel

Unfortunately due to slightly wet conditions it was decided to cancel the Barbecue  but members did manage to come out for a get together for a couple of hours in the evening and the free raffle was drawn whilst others made there way down to the main arena to the Swift Marquee to watch Madness

Sunday and it was time to prepare for the Celtic Reception with members off the SCC Council, Scottish Members, Vanmaster Club & Irish Division donating the food etc but we had a little problem on Scottish Lines with the Yellow Flag Flying vehicle movement was restricted but Caravan Club came to the rescue with an official vehicle being sent to Scottish Lines to transport the food to the marquee and what a magnificent spread they put on so our guests wouldn't be disappointed and with a few rusty nails being served

Monday it was time for the Scottish Ramble with over 70 people + dogs taking part and setting off in 3 groups over the 9 kilometre route, Fiona Murray, Ena & Alex Carson & Avril Ferrier led the groups and were met midway along the course with Robbie Murray and Hamish Stuart serving refreshments. On return to the Scottish Lines Tea, Coffee & Fresh Pancakes were served - thank you to Ollie & Joyce Turner, Andrew & Doris Baird, Alan & Jacqui Steel, Frank & Maureen Clark, Freddie & Linda Philips & Graeme & Jessie McKenzie for helping

At the arena  on Monday afternoon the Caravan Club Dog Show was held Steve & Diane Dargie (North Centre) puppy Chico won 6th place and Gordon Smart Dog (Ben - Vanmaster's Club) won 6th place in the Adult section. Monday evening remained dry and allowed a get together on Scottish Lines for those not going to The Last Night at the Proms (Caravan Club Concert Band)

Tuesday it was all hands to deck making sure all outfits got off the field safely and towing those off that couldn't manage - then it was time for the long trip back home

Our thanks  goes to Tommy Gilmour for helping to see the vans in on Friday and a extra thanks  to Fraser Todd who helped tirelessly on Friday and over the weekend towing vans on and off the field
