65th Scottish National Rally

156 outfits attended the 65th Scottish Caravan Club National Rally at Ayr Race Course, Ayr from all over the UK and Ireland on Friday 1st May hosted by the The South West Scotland Centre on behalf of The Scottish Caravan Club
The vans started to arrive from 09:00 o'clock onwards. When members had their caravans set up and plugged into their EHU - this was a first at a Scottish National Rally members they made their way to reception to book in and receive a welcoming cup of tea or coffee along with some home baking In the evening it was back down to the marquee set up on site for the national to enjoy a cup of homemade soup and a chance to catch up with old friends and meet some new friends.
Saturday morning with the sun shining the official opening was held at 10:30am. Hamish Stuart, Scottish Caravan Club Chairman welcomed everyone to the National Rally and introduced his platform party which included all Scottish Division Council, John & Llinos Gass, Alex & Gina Davidson (All Caravan Club), Dave Grover and Dave Robinson who are Honorary Members of The Scottish Caravan Club, the rally was officially opened by Helen Moonie Provost for Ayr. Everyone was welcomed by John Gass Executive Member of The Caravan Club. Hamish then gave a breakdown of those attending, Past Presidents of Scottish Division attending were Norman Douglas, Kenny Robertson Margaret Devine, Fiona Murray and Ian Maclean
The Chairman's reception was held in the marquee for invited guests and dignitaries, with all food being supplied by Scottish Division Council Members
The Dinner Dance on Saturday evening also took place in the function suite at Ayr Race Course with a beautiful 3 course meal followed by dancing to music played by "Method" and a good night was had by all that attended
Sunday Morning a Service was led by Ayr Salvation Army conducting the service and a collection of £300.00 was raised and was being donated to the Salvation Army. This was followed by Centre Sales and Tea and Coffee being served.
In the afternoon it was time for the Inter Centre Sports, because of the wet weather it was decided to hold the sports inside the marquee with all centres competing for the Scottish Division Sports Trophy. In the end it was East Centre who won the trophy for a second year running and the Paterson Trophy for best cheer leaders was awarded to the Highland Centre. Congratulations to both winners.
A Family Social was held in the evening with music being played by “Eastwood”keeping the dance floor full. At the interval the Scottish Division Flag was passed to Fiona Murray, Chairman of Highland Centre for safe keeping as the Highland Centre were hosting the 2016 66th Scottish National at The Black Isle Showground, Muir of Ord with 100 EHU available for the first 100 bookings received an information sheet and booking details can be downloaded from www.thescottishcaravanclub.com
On Monday there was a coach trip arranged and in the evening a family social was held in the marquee on site
To Ronnie Duff Chairman, South West Scotland Centre, Patricia Duff who has battled through a recent illness and only came out of hospital the previous week, Jim and Maureen Ferguson, Jim & Pat Calder, Tom & Marion Leggat, Graham Gabriel & Sandra, Tommy Gilmour all the South West Scotland Centre Committee and all their Centre Members a Big thank and well done in hosting a successful Scottish National
Once again for members that didn't attend who now wished they had, there is always next year at Muir of Ord where I am sure that A Warm Highland Centre will await you, so please book and don't be disappointed
