66th Scottish National Rally

The 66th National rally was hosted by the Highland Centre chairperson Fiona Murray, who led a strong team to put on a superb weekend of activities for the 133 units that attended.
The team braved the rain and snow showers to put the caravans and motor homes in on the Friday, this was followed in the evening with the ladies serving various flavours of soup at the evening get together were people met new and old friends again.
Saturday Morning:
The opening was lead by SCC Chairman Dave Smith, with Don Aird announcing the Platform Party, Dave welcomed all to the rally and made mention of the surrounding scenery and the snow covered hills, after which he introduced the opener Rob Gibson MSP and the invited him to say a few words then Rob, pull the Flag to officially open the 66th National Rally, then it was the turn of all the centres to pull and fly their centre flags as this was being done the centre chairmen and partner were introduced to the opener Rob Gibson MSP.
Before returning to the platform Dave Smith presented Rob Gibson, with a gift which he was asked to open, it was a "Sporran Flask" inscribed with The 66th SCC National Rally Muir of Ord. Returning to the Platform Chairman Dave Smith invited The Caravan Chairman Grenville Chamberlain to address the gathered company to which he did and he thanked all for their participation and the distance that some had travelled to be on the rally.Flowers were presented to the partner of the opener and also to Liz Chamberlain.
After the opening SCC Chairman's Reception was put on in the warmth of the showground buildings, were SCC and Highland centre team did the serving and bar duties.
Saturday evening:
A Dinner Dance was held and a great meal was served by Red Poppy caterers of Muir of Ord, Then all danced to the band "Rise" and a goodnight was had by all.
Sunday:
The Church Service was taken by Fiona Murray and Joyce Stuart. this was well attended, were the charity collection raise over £300.
Sunday afternoon, the children's sports were held inside because of the weather, each one was presented with a medal and a bag of sweets by SCC Chairman's wife Audrey Smith.
Outside in the arena, the senior sports were fought out between the 7 centres the winner being Fife & Tayside centre and they were present with the cup by Ian Bennett SCC President.
The Chair Leaders trophy the Patterson cup was won by the North Centre and again this was presented By Ian Bennett SCC President.
A family social was attend by 200 with music and games, during the evening the rally was closed with Highland chairman Fiona Murray handing over the Flag to Chairman John Scott of Dumfries and Galloway Centre who will be holding the 67th Scottish Caravan National at Dumfries, venue Park Farm from the 28th of April till the 2nd of May 2017.
