73rd Scottish Division National Rally

Saturday 3rd May - Opening Ceremony

We welcomed a lovely sunny day for our opening ceremony. Our platform party of VIPs included the Scottish Division Team, Vice-Chair of the Caravan and Motorhome Club Mark Sinclair Watson and Deputy Lieutenant Percy Weatherall. MC for the ceremony Ian Bennett guided procedings along, briefly struggling for the want of a dram (soon remedied)! 

Our fine piping team lead the VIPs to the field. With opening remarks from the the Scottish Division Chair, it fell to the Deputy Lieutenant to introduce Dumfries and Galloway to the members attending followed by an address by the , who was attending the rally. Flags were raised and the centre chairs introduced. With presentations to the VIPs completed the platform party returned to the marquee for the Chair's reception.

The centre and divsion teams had laid on a fine spread - sandwiches disappearing super fast!. With refreshments from the tea and coffee team and the Rusty Nail team everyone tucked in to the spread. A display of handbooks across the years reminded us that we are celebrating 80 years as members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The Division Chair had made a celebration cake which was cut formally by the Deputy Lieutenant.
